Our mission
Fire Fighting AI Foundation exists to close the gap between what we know about fire risk and what we actually do about it. We use AI to turn scattered data into clear, actionable insight—so communities can act before a spark becomes a disaster.
- Prevention first
- Field-ready tools
- Transparent, ethical AI
- Community-centered design
Why we exist
Every year, fires destroy homes, habitats, and lives. Many of these incidents are predictable—and preventable. We believe technology should serve as an early shield, not just a late alarm.
Longer seasons, higher stakes
Hotter temperatures, longer fire seasons, and denser development are increasing fire danger across regions that were once considered low risk.
Signals, but no single picture
Critical information is scattered across agencies, sensors, and reports—making it hard to see risk clearly or act in time.
Communities left behind
High-risk areas often lack tools, training, and real-time insights. We focus on practical, accessible solutions that can be deployed where they’re needed most.
What we do
We design and deploy AI-powered tools that support prevention, planning, and response—always in partnership with the people on the front lines.
Community risk mapping
We develop AI models that analyze weather, vegetation, infrastructure, and historical incidents to identify high-risk zones and patterns.
- Neighborhood-level risk scores
- Scenario-based planning maps
- Prioritized mitigation recommendations
Tools for first responders
We design decision-support tools that help agencies simulate fire spread, assess resource needs, and visualize risk in real time.
- Pre-incident planning dashboards
- Dynamic resource allocation insights
- Training and tabletop simulation support
Clear guidance from complex codes
We translate complex codes, regulations, and best practices into clear, actionable guidance—powered by AI—to help property owners and communities stay safer and compliant.
- Property-level risk and compliance checkups
- Tailored mitigation checklists
- Support for inspectors and HOAs
Learning and collaboration
We create accessible resources, workshops, and open datasets so that students, researchers, and local leaders can build on and improve fire safety solutions.
- Workshops and training sessions
- Open, documented datasets where possible
- Student and research collaborations
Our approach
Technology alone doesn’t solve safety. Our work is grounded in the lived experience of firefighters, inspectors, and residents.
Human-centered
We build with firefighters, inspectors, and residents—not just for them. Every tool is shaped by real-world workflows and constraints.
Transparent & ethical
We prioritize explainable models, clear documentation, and responsible use. Safety, equity, and accountability guide every deployment.
Collaborative
We partner with agencies, universities, and community organizations to test, refine, and scale what works—sharing lessons along the way.
Who we serve
Our work is designed to support everyone with a stake in fire safety—from the first unit on scene to the resident clearing brush in their backyard.
Get involved
Whether you bring technical skills, field experience, or community leadership, there’s a role for you in building safer, more fire-resilient communities.
We are in an early, building phase—your input can directly shape our pilots, tools, and priorities.
Ways to support
- Donate: Help us build and deploy life-saving tools in high-risk communities.
- Partner: Fire agencies, cities, HOAs, and community groups—co-design pilots with us.
- Collaborate: Engineers, data scientists, designers, and educators—lend your skills to real-world impact.
